Q: Who is the Yoga of 12-Step Recovery session for?
A: Yoga of 12-Step Recovery sessions are for individuals who are affected by any kind of addiction, regardless of the drug of choice (alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, etc). It is also for individuals whose lives are affected by the addiction of others. These sessions are a good supplement to 12-step programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Codependent Anonymous (CODA), etc. It is one of the tools that an individual can use for relapse prevention.
Q: What is the format of a Yoga of 12-Step Recovery session?
A: A Yoga of 12-Step Recovery session includes two major components: a sharing circle and a yoga practice. The sharing circle includes an introduction, reading of the 12 Steps, reading of the Community Agreements, topic introduction, sharing, and meeting closing. The yoga practice includes breathing exercises, light and gentle yoga poses, and guided meditation. The breakdown in terms of time is 45 minutes meeting and 45 minutes yoga practice. Q: Can I get in touch with other attendees of Yoga of 12-Step Recovery after the class?
A: Use of the chat box while the Zoom meeting is ongoing is discouraged. We would like to uphold the no-crosstalk rule and engage in active listening instead. If you are open for others to get in touch with you after the Yoga of 12-Step Recovery session, you may write your email address beside your first name in Zoom, like this: Nancy (manilajiva@gmail.com). If you would like to join the private Facebook group Yoga of 12-Step Recovery (GMT+8), please send an email to manilajiva@gmail.com with your FB name so I can approve your request to join the group.
